My current employer is President's Office-Public Service Management. I am a Computer Systems Analyst, my duties are to analyse ICT needs for various departments within PO-PSM and in other Ministries, Departments and Agencies,  assist in providing technical support and specifications for various ICT procurements, to analyse Software development needs and security measures, assist in monitoring and managing of web and mail servers and configure and manage network devices as well as troubleshooting and fixing network problems.

We have a Local Area Network with almost 100 computers connected and each connected terminal access data from a dedicated server. We use LINUX Operating system and Advanced Server 2003. We have three modems and we use Windows Server 2008 and Linux as our networking software. We connect to the internet through dial up connection and we use a Local Telephone company(TTCL) as our ISP.

I expect to use the knowledge I will get from the workshop extensively as we currently have projects running and some underway that require this kind of knowledge, for instance, we are currently in preparation of network and server environment to host a Tanzania Government Portal and also we are rolling out the Independent Communications Network which aims at connecting ministries and government departments in order for them to be able to communicate with ease and share resourses. So having knowledge on how to Monitor and Manage networks, I will be able to offer the required support for the benefit of my organization as well as the Government in general.
